The governance

Board of directors

The IHU is steered by a board of directors (CA) which defines its general policy.
It is made up of 16 members, 6 founding members, 5 qualified personalities, 3 representatives from the economic world and 2 representatives elected by teacher-researchers. The CA is chaired by Mr. Thierry Tuot, State Councillor.

Thierry Tuot

Chairman of the board

“Like all start-ups, ICAN has been able to cast doubt on the viability of its future. The retrospective view that this report now allows us to cast on its growth shows that the future of our IHU is now firmly assured and that its project is being deployed vigorously. These last two years have been those of normalization, of a management that has become rigorous, transparent and efficient; consolidation, by refocusing the institute’s project on its fundamentals; investment, through the acquisition of the unique research MRI which is the key asset of our action; of integration, ICAN having alongside its founders, in close collaboration at all times with them, found its way, its specificity, and the path to its added value. Despite the health crisis (to the resolution of which it contributes for the future) the IHU has remained mobilized, active; he demonstrated that his project was valid and found, in France, in Europe, reliable partners, with whom he writes, as a recognized major player, an essential page of medical research. It owes its success to the unwavering support, which is not a gamble, but a rational choice for the future, of its founding members, Sorbonne University, AP-HP and INSERM. It owes its success first and foremost to its teams, ardent, united, mobilized, professional and imaginative, whose creativity and rigor make the power of the tool they have built. Alongside them, the Board of Directors will continue to support and promote an action whose value will be demonstrated even more in the years to come. »

“ICAN is a unique research institute due to its multidisciplinary approach to a central and complex morbidity problem, cardiometabolic diseases, and broad research scope, from basic research to implementation, using state-of-the-art techniques.

A particular strength of this world-wide leading institute is the involvement of experts from different fields, including clinic, -omics and imaging, in research projects, leading to new insights on pathophysiology, biomarkers and potential targets for treatment or response evaluation.

Importantly, ICAN has a central focus on the patient, patient journey, and prevention. Lastly, I think a key component that helps to anchor the research findings and techniques is the ICAN education and teaching program for future colleagues in research and clinic. »
